Privacy policy

1.What we collect

The site collects the following information, and nothing else.

Booking request

Your check-in and check-out dates, the number of guests, your name, your email and, if you write one, your message. The language you are browsing in is noted too, so we can answer in it.

Review of your stay

Your name, where you are from (optional), your rating out of 5 and the text of your review.

Language cookie

A cookie named NEXT_LOCALE remembers the language you chose, French or English. It holds nothing else and is deleted when you close your browser.

Your choice about audience measurement

Your answer to the cookie banner is kept in your browser (local storage, under the name brisedulac.consent.v1) for 180 days. It is not sent to our servers.

Audience measurement, only if you accept it

Google Analytics then sets the cookies _ga and _ga_<identifier> and receives information about your visit: pages viewed, type of device and browser, approximate region and the site you came from.

Technical logs

Like any web server, ours records the IP address, the date, the page requested and the browser type of each request.

2.Why we use it

• To answer your booking request and organise your stay.
• To check your review, then publish it on the site with your name, where you are from, your rating and your text.
• To show the site in the language you chose.
• To learn which pages are useful, only if you accepted audience measurement.
• To protect the site and diagnose failures.

Your information is not used for targeted advertising: the advertising features of Google Analytics are switched off on this site.

3.Who can see it

Your hosts

Booking requests and reviews are sent to our management system, operated by the owners of the residence.

Google, only if you accept audience measurement

Google processes the audience data on our behalf and may store it on servers located outside Quebec and Canada.

Google Maps

The map in the Location section is provided by Google. When it is displayed, your browser talks to Google directly, which receives your IP address among other things.

Airbnb

If you follow a link to Airbnb, that platform's privacy policy applies.

The site does not send your information to anyone else.

4.How long we keep it

Booking requests and reviews

For as long as needed for the purposes described above; they are then destroyed, as the law requires.

Your cookie choice

180 days in your browser, then you are asked again.

Google Analytics cookies

Up to two years in your browser. If you withdraw your consent, the site deletes them right away.

Data kept by Google Analytics

At most 14 months for detailed data, depending on the retention setting in Google Analytics.

Language cookie

Until you close your browser.

Technical logs

About two weeks, after which they are deleted automatically.

5.Cookies and audience measurement

On your first visit, a banner asks whether you accept audience measurement. Until you accept, nothing is loaded from Google Analytics and no measurement cookie is set.

To change your mind, use the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page. If you decline after having accepted, the site stops measuring and deletes the _ga cookies from your browser.

The language cookie and the memory of your choice only serve to run the site; they cannot be used to follow you.

6.Your rights

Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector gives you rights over your information.

• Access: know what information we hold about you and get a copy of it.
• Correction: have inaccurate, incomplete or ambiguous information corrected.
• Withdrawal of consent: withdraw your consent to audience measurement at any time, with the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page.

To exercise a right, write to the person responsible, whose contact details are below. The law asks us to answer you in writing within 30 days.

If our answer does not satisfy you, you can turn to the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec (cai.gouv.qc.ca).

7.How we protect it

• The site can only be reached over an encrypted connection (HTTPS).
• Your forms are sent to our management system over an encrypted connection protected by a key; they are not kept in your browser.

8.Changes to this policy

When this policy changes, the update date shown at the top of the page changes too.

9.Person responsible

The person responsible for the protection of personal information at Brise du Lac Tchitogama answers your questions and your requests for access or correction.
